Weekly Meetings:

Every week we meet in Palmer 106 at 7pm for our weekly meeting in which we debate a subject of current affairs, trying to find a Resolution for it. We set no limits to the representation of countries unless we decide to represent a specific committee of the UN in which case we would have to comply with the list of existing members of said committee. Since, we like everyone to be able to speak about the specific issues, we will be running one topic every two sessions, so everyone has the time to think about his or her country's position and is able to go deep enough in character. Typically the Role Call will start at 7.10pm and the session will be adjourned or postponed at 9pm, even if after 2 sessions no resolution have been found. If a resolution is found before the end of the 2nd session, we will decide the next topic and assign countries. If a resolution is voted upon before the end of the 1st session then the debate will not continue to a 2nd session.

In order to accommodate students with other obligations after Wednesday sessions we advise that any questions to the committee on other matters then the debate itself or Rules of Procedure be asked at the end of each session.

Any announcement made by the committee at the beginning or the end of a session will be followed by a Q&A period if necessary. Any announcement will be kept in the time frame previously mentioned.

NMUN-NYC Interview Process:

The RUMUN committee is sorry to announce that not all members wanting to go to the New York Conference will not be eligible to go as we at the moment can only afford to send around 18 delegates on a partially subsidized basis, explained in more detailed on the event page.

Therefore, we will be conducting a series of Interviews to all interested members of the Society. These interviews will start when announced by the committee and accommodated around individual members' schedules.

The Process:

. Wednesday's 27th of October members meeting stated the official start of the interview process for NMUN 2011.
. From that point in time you have been able to book time slots for interviews with the committee, interviews will take place this Friday and Next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
. Interview slots will therefore fill up on a first come first served basis . A final decision will be reached on Wednesday afternoon when we announce the lucky delegates and book the hotel rooms :-)

The Interview:

. Each aspiring delegate will be interviewed for around 15 minutes by a panel of three members from the committee.
. Therefore you will fall in the hands of either two possible panels composed as follows:

Panel 1: Peter Barrett, Daniel Orwa and Elliot Cass

Panel 2: Shereez Dharsey, Swaleh Ouma and Ed Bates .

You will be assessed on different levels by the panels:

1. We are looking for confident delegates, who can work under a lot of pressure
2. We are looking for extensive research skills as extreme expertise will be asked of the delegate participating to NMUN
3. We are looking for delegates who can delegate work and work efficiently within a group
4. We are looking for delegates with prior experience in MUN conferences and therefore it is crucial that you attend at least NottsMUN and/or LIMUN and participate in any other similar exercise in order to build up your skills
5. We will need to know which course you are taking and what year you are in
6. We are looking for people who can manage the payment of £150 quickly when asked to pay for the plane tickets and the hotel bookings and who will be able to sustain themselves during the trip and cover extra expenses averaged according to our calculations to £170
7. We will ask the reasons behind the delegate's involvement with MUN and why they would want to further it by participating to NMUN-NYC
8. We will be looking for particular knowledge on the Darfur crisis and the UN in general, we will be asking questions to the aspiring delegates about those topics and assess their ability to argue on either side of the argument.
9. We will be asking for specific explanations on your qualities and experiences as a delegate 10. We will be looking for extremely committed members and therefore taking registry during meetings, any selected members of the delegation can have his/her position on the delegation to NMUN reconsidered if they do not fulfill attendance to meetings and fail to give satisfactory explanations to their nonattendance.

If you have any questions, you will be able to ask them during the members meeting this evening or by emailing the secretariat
